The Higgs boson is a hypothetical massive elementary particle that is predicted to exist by the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics. Its existence is postulated as a means of resolving inconsistencies in the Standard Model. Experiments attempting to find the particle are currently being performed using the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. In December 2011, it was rumored that he first signs of Higgs boson was detected at CERN's LHC. The particle was believed to have give shape to the universe after the Big Bang 13.7 billion years ago.
