About Uma Bharti

Uma Bharti is a politician of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

She also lead the Bhartiya Janshakti Party, a Madhya Pradesh regional political party, after she parted ways with BJP only to rejoin the party later.

Ganga Samagra Yatra

Uma Bharti led the Ganga Samgra Yatra in Patna to create awareness on the cleanliness of the river Ganga. On 6 October 2012, Uma Bharti called for the enactment of a stringent law to crack down on those polluting Ganges. She also calimed that the National Ganga River Basin Authority (NGRBA) has failed to ensure the cleanliness of the holy river.

Uma Bharati, on 28 November 2012, stressed the importance of linkage of rivers without disturbing their existing sanctity and ecology. She participated in the 'Maha Harathi' of river Godavari at Sri Laxminarasimha Swamy Devasthanam in Dharmapuri in Karimnagar. Uma Bharati said that she will lead formation of human chain on the banks of Ganga on December 2 to bring awareness on the pollution of river Ganga.

Speaking to reporters in Patna on 6 October 2012, Uma Bharti said that at least seven crore people would become jobless and 20 crore employed would lose their jobs.
