Shivraj Patil is former Indian Home Minister. He offered his resignation on November 30, 2008 in the wake of November Mumbai terrorist attacks. President Pratibha Devisingh Patil accepted his resignation. Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram would be the new Home Minister while Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh will take additional charge as the Finance Minister.

As Home Minister

Shivraj Patil served as the Indian Home Minister.

In November 06, he visited the flood hit areas of Andhra Pradesh.

In August 07, he visited the bomb hit areas of Hyderabad.

Pressure mounted on Patil to resign from his Home Minister position owing to a number of bomb blasts in India including serial blasts in New Delhi on September 13, 2008, killing 20 persons.

Earlier during the year, on May 13, 2008 at least 60 people were killed in a series of bomb blasts in Jaipur. On July 25, 2008 two people were killed and around 20 injured in Bangalore serial blasts. On October 30, 2008 around 70 persons had died and 330 wounded in serial blasts in Assam apart from the November 08 Mumbai terrorist attacks that killed 200 people.
