Salman Khurshid

Salman Khurshid is an Indian politician of to the Indian National Congress. He is the Union External Affairs Minister of India. Khurshid earlier served as the Union Minister of Law and Justice and Minister of Minority Affairs.

Salman Khurshid has been elected from Farrukhabad Lok Sabha constituency in the General Election of 2009.

UPA Government to implement reforms in two years

Salman Khurshid said that the UPA government will implement all the much-needed economic reforms in the next two years. On 11 October 2012, Khurshid said "We have moved in a manner which is sustainable from economic and political point of view. Economic growth for us is not only rapid growth but inclusive growth. We have found the right combination in the alliance to push through the reforms and we will be able to provide the promised platform in the next two years."

India will need to import a large percentage of its energy needs
Salman Khurshid, speaking at an Energy Security Conference in New Delhi on 13 December 2012 said that India will need to import a large percentage of its energy needs if it has to grow at 8-9 per cent. India was importing 80 per cent of oil and 25 per cent of gas requirements, he said. CII president Adi Godrej and CII director general Chandrajit Banerjee were also present.


Zakir Hussain Memorial Trust

Salman Khurshid and his wife Louise Khurshid manages the Zakir Hussain Memorial Trust. The Trust is an NGO and has been operating in many states of the country.


In October 2012, a news channel reported a sting operation alleging that Law minister Salman Khurshid has siphoned off lakhs of rupees through his NGO. The funds were meant to help disabled in several parts of Uttar Pradesh.
