Former union minister Daggubati Purandeswari who quit Congress to join Bharatiya Janata Party is the nominee for Rajampet constituency. Purandeswari initially wanted to contest Vijayawada Lok Sabha, but due to the seat sharing alliance between Telugu Desam and BJP, she had to contest from Rajampet constituency.
