Notice to Digvijay Singh

In September 2012, Nitin Gadkari has sent a legal notice to Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh for making defamatory statements against him. It is known that Digvijay Singh has alleged that Ajay Sancheti, a business partner of Gadkari, has earned a profit of Rs. 490 crore from coal block allocation in Chhattisgarh. Reacting to the news of notice, Digvijay Singh said that he would respond once he receives the notice.

Nitin Gadkari has filed a defamatory case against AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh. The BJP president has moved to the Delhi's Patiala House court on 1 Oct 2012 after Singh failed to reply to his legal notice. Gadkari's lawyer Pinky Anand told media "The court took cognizance of our complaint and fixed 16 October as the next date for recording statement of other witnesses in the case. Nitin Gadkari recorded his statement before the magistrate"

Legal notice to RTI activist Anjali Damani

On 27 September 2012, Nitin Gadkari has served a legal notice to RTI activist and whistleblower of the Irrigation scam Anjali Damani for her allegations that the BJP president tried to cover up the Irrigation scam. Gadkari's counsel Shamshery & Associates has served the legal notice demanding Anjali Damani to retract her statements which are false and baseless and tender a public apology, failing which, they are free to take appropriate legal proceedings. Gadkari's counsel has charged Damania that she has given false statements to the media insinuating that Gadkari has business relations with Pawar and hence tried to dissuade her from proceedings in the irrigation scam.

2011

On February 12, 2011, Gadkari termed the ruling UPA Government a failure. He says that the government's economic policies should be aimed at reducing the disparity between rural and urban areas.

Corruption Charges

In 2012, Nitin Gadkari was accused of corruption. However, RSS came to his rescue saying that Gadkari is legally and morally clear. Despite the RSS backing, many of his BJP colleagues have publicly demanded his resignation. The party leadership has supported Gadkari to avert a leadership crisis in the party.
