The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is an alliance of various Indian political parties with the Bharatiya Janata Party as a leading member.

In October 09, Ms. Sonia Gandhi blamed the BJP-led NDA Government of discriminating against Congress-ruled states during its tenure.

Make in India Initiative

Make in India is one of the major initiatives of the NDA government under prime minister Narendra Modi. The cause of 'Make in India' is to make the country a manufacturing hub to boost the economy. 'Make in India' initiative was launched on September 25, 2015 by Prime Minister Modi. He urged industrialists to set up establishments in India instead of eyeing foreign lands. On Republic Day 2015, there was a tableaux on "Make in India" theme.

Ordinances

Facing a lack of majority in Rajya Sabha, the government has been resorting to ordinance route to pass legislation. The government has passed an average of eight ordinances in just 225 days. The assent of both the houses of Parliament is required in case of laws related to constitutional amendments, while money bills can be passed by Lok Sabha even if Rajya Sabha rejects them.
