H D Deve Gowda is a former Indian Prime Minister, a former Karnataka Chief Minister and a senior politician from Karnataka, India. He belongs to Janata Dal (Secular). He took oath as member of the 15th Lok Sabha on June 1, 2009.

Professional Biography

On January 11, 2010, Deve Gowda said he regretted for using derogatory and un-parliamentary words against Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa.

On 9 October 2012, Deve Gowda has invited Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa and DMK president M Karunanidhi to visit Karnataka and see for themselves the plight of the people in the state who are depend on the water of the Cauvery river. The invitation comes in the backdrop of Supreme Court of India ordering Karnataka to release Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. The people of Karnataka are facing shortage of Cauvery waters, not only for irrigation but also for drinking, he said.
