About Gordon Brown

James Gordon Brown (born 20 February 1951) is the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Labour Party. Brown became Prime Minister in June 2007, after the resignation of Tony Blair and three days after becoming leader of the governing Labour Party. Immediately before this he had served as Chancellor of the Exchequer in the Labour government from 1997 to 2007 under Tony Blair.

In April 2010, he announced that the General election will be held in Britain on May 6, 2010.

As UK Prime Minister

In September 2008, leader of Britain's Conservative Party, David Cameron launched a major broadside against Gordon, and accused him of being "bust."

In March 2010, Brown has been quizzed by a magazine for homosexuals if he would like a relationship with Lord Peter Mandelson.

Relationship with US

On March 4, 2009, Brown visited the US and addressed a Joint Session of the US Congress at the Capitol in Washington.

British troops in Iraq

In December 08, he announced that British troops will leave Iraq by July 2009 ceasing its Iraq operations by May 31, 2009.

On 2008/2009 Economic Recession

In March 2009, Brown refused to personally apologise for economic crisis but admitted the British Government would have been tougher on British banks.

UK Elections 2010

Under new Whitehall proposals, Brown may continue as the British PM for weeks even if he loses the general elections.

Simon Cowell apparently snubbed Brown after the British leader asked for the music moguls help to get more young people to vote.

In mid-April 2010, he finished last in election debate, Britain's first ever television election debate.
