Gali Janardhana Reddy


Gali Janardhana Reddy is a Indian politician with the Bharatiya Janata Party and one of the richest politicians of Karnataka. He is also a businessman and is the Chairman and Managing Director of GJR Group.

As of 2012, Janardhana Reddy has been implicated in the massive illegal mining scandal in Bellary and the related Belekeri port scam. Janardhana Reddy is at the center of the illegal iron-ore mining controversy in the Karnataka government.

The Enforcement Directorate has attached shares and assets worth Rs. 884 crore in the Obulapuram Mining Company case involving Gali Janardhana Reddy on December 5, 2012. The assets have been attached under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. Investigations have revealed that Rs. 884.13 crore in the form of 88,41,300 shares of Brahmani Industries Limited were attached.

  • October 12, 2012: A court in Hyderabad rejects bail petition of Gali Janardhana Reddy in the 'Cash for Bail' scam on the ground that he was the beneficiary of the scam. The CBI Court in Bangalore also extended his judicial remand till November 3.

2013 Assembly Elections

Gali Janardhana Reddy will contest in the assembly elections next year. He would contest from Badava Shramika Raitha Congress either from Bellary, Kushtagi or Chitradurga constituencies.
