Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee is the Chief Minister of West Bengal.
On February 8, 2010, Bhattacharjee announced that ten percent reservation in jobs would be given to Muslims socially, educationally and economically backward. The decision raised criticism from two sections of the public. One section viewed the move as a bid to win Muslim bank in the next year Assembly elections. Another section feels there is no need for the quota system in the modern Indian society.
