2014 Elections

Elections for Allagadda Assembly constituency were be held on 7 May 2014.

YSR Congress Party nominee Shobha Nagi Reddy passed away after sustaining injuries in a car accident. The Election Commission said that elections will be held as usual since she is not a candidate of a recognized party.

Even as Election Commission made it clear that the elections will be held as usual since the deceased is not a candidate of a recognized party, confusion prevails in the constituency as to whether her name will appear on the Electronic Voting Machines. The list of candidates after the last date of withdrawal will be sent to the EVM manufacturer ECIL. If the name is already included in the voting machines, any votes polled to the deceased candidate will not be counted said chief electoral officer Bhanwarlal. There would not be enough time to replace all EVMs as there would be around 150 EVMs per Assembly segment. Apr 26, 2014
