Ajay Maken


Ajay Maken is the Indian Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports. He is a member of the 15th Lok Sabha representing New Delhi constituency.

Personal Biography

Ajay Maken was born on January 12, 1964 in Delhi. He is married to Radhika and has three children, Aarushi, Ahana and Aujaswi.

Maken is also distantly related to the former President of India, Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma.

Professional Career

Ajay Maken's first entry into politics came during his college days when he was elected President of Delhi University Students Union in 1985. He was later elected as the President of Delhi Transport Corporation Trade Union.

Delhi Legislative Assembly

Ajay Maken served as a member of Delhi Legislative Assembly for three terms. He was first elected in 1993 by a margin of 4000 votes and was later re-elected in 1998 and 2003.

He served as General Secretary, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee and General Secretary, Indian Youth Congress.

Member of Parliament

He was elected as a Member of Parliament to Lok Sabha in 2004. He was re-elected in 2009.
