Kiran Bedi

Kiran Bedi is a politician belonging to Bharatiya Janata Party. She is a former IPS officer.

A Ph.D, she is India's first and highest ranking (retired in 2007) woman officer who joined the Indian Police Service in 1972. She is a social activist too. In March 09, she took part in Anti-terrorism rally in Delhi.

Kiran Bedi is a member of Team Anna.

In the 2015 Assembly Elections, Kiran Bedi lost in Krishna Nagar constituency against AAP candidate SK Bagga which was regarded as a safe bastion of the Bharatiya Janata Party. The party was also routed in elections which AAP won. The Aam Aadmi Party won 67 of the 70 Assembly seats. Kiran Bedi apologized to BJP for not being able to live up to the expectation.



Kiran Bedi complained to the Election Commission alleging that 'fatwas' were issued which impacted voting. She said she was willing till the time voting started in her Krishna Nagar constituency, but lost because of fatwas that were issued. Feb 11, 2015
