About Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)

PCB is the top authority of cricket in Pakistan. Zakir Khan is the Operations Director of PCB. Wasim Bari is its Chief Operating Officer. (COO). Javed Miandad is its Director General.

In April 2009, the ICC has denied Pakistan hosting right for any match of the 2011 Cricket World Cup.

In September 09, PCB rewarded Rs. 500,000 each to Malik and Yousuf for performing against India in the ICC Champions Trophy.

In October 09, PCB appeared to be against playing its matches in India during the 2011 Cricket World Cup and has reportedly asked the ICC to shift its matches to Sri Lanka or Bangladesh. During the month, it lobbied at the ongoing ICC chief executives meeting in Johannesburg for resumption of international cricket in Pak.

In April 2010, it announced that none of the members of the national selection committee would accompany the national squad during the ICC T20 World Championship and the selection process during the tournament would be handled by the team manager, coach and the captain.

Because of severe power crisis in Pakistan, PCB and other sports authorities have been urged not to organise matches under artificial lights.

2010 Ban on players

In mid-April 2010, Younis Khan and incumbent T20 skipper Shahid Afridi have appealed against their respective fine and ban imposed by PCB. Younis Khan announced his decision to challenge the boards decision earlier. In April 2010, he said he wants PCB to decide on his appeal against the indefinite ban imposed on him by the board as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Shoaib Malik has sent a notice to PCB seeking clarifications on its decision impose a years ban and a penalty of two million rupees on him.

It is reported that PCB is contemplating handing over the Test captaincy to incumbent T20 skipper Shahid Afridi

Pakistan Premier League

The Pakistan Cricket Board is contemplating of launching a Pakistan Premier League (PPL) in the same lines of the Indian Premier League. In April 2012, it is reported that several international players have expressed interest to compete in the competition. The Board is taking the help of country's leading cricketers to convince foreign cricket players to compete in the tournament.
