About Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM)

In January 2010, Itron Inc. announced that it has been awarded a contract for the delivery of a complete remote meter reading system including 150,000 Automated Meter Reading (AMR) water meters to the MCGM. The deployment is expected to be completed within two years.

In December 2009, the Bombay Municipal Corporation (BMC) today elected its second consecutive woman as mayor - Shraddha Jadhav of the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance won the battle for the coveted post.

Water supply

Providing enough water to the residents of Mumbai is one of the primary tasks of BMC. However, taps run dry in Mumbai every summer as the BMC cuts water supply by 20 per cent to tide over the water shortage crisis in the city due to the late arrival of the monsoon.
