Swedish-born film sound specialist Paul NJ Ottosson took home two Oscars - Sound Editing category and along with Ray Beckett in Sound Mixing category in the 2010 Academy Awards for his work on the Iraq War drama The Hurt Locker.

Professional Biography

After finishing school in Hässleholm, Sweden, Ottosson and some of his friends moved to Los Angeles in 1987 to try their luck as rock stars. His friends returned home soon but Ottosson stayed back after having met a girl with whom he decided to stay. One of his friends got him a job in 1992 at a recording studio. He started off with some commercials and music videos and later moved to movies. In 1997 he won an Emmy for the episode Rat in the series National Geographic Explorer. He has done over 100 projects in sound recording, most recently as supervising sound editor and/or sound designer for Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius (2001), The Scorpion King (2002), S.W.A.T. (2003), Spider-man 2 and The Grudge (both 2004), The Exorcism Of Emily Rose (2005), RV and The Grudge 2 (both 2006), Rise, Bogeyman 2, The Messengers and Spider-man 3 (all 2007), The Hurt Locker and Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay (both 2008), And Horsemen, Drag Me to Hell and 2012 (all 2009).
