Slumdog Millionaire (Release Date: November 21, 2008) is an Oscar Winning Bollywood-English movie filmed in the city of Mumbai, India. The film is directed by Danny Boyle. A R Rahman did the music for the film. The movie is distributed by Fox Searchlight Pictures; Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corporation. The music and soundtrack are released by N.E.E.T./Interscope Records online on November 25, 2008 and available at stores from December 23, 2008. Simon Beaufoy gave the screenplay and penned the storyline for the novel Q & A (2005) by Indian author Vikas Swarup.

Movie storyline

The 120-minute movie is the fictitious story about an 18-year-old Indian, Jamal, who wins Indian version of gameshow Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. Jamal rewinds his past as he answers the questions in the gameshow. The show's host, however, insists that he must be cheating and takes steps to force young Jamal to admit that a boy from such an impoverished background could not possibly possess the knowledge necessary to win the show's top prize. The movie has put Mumbai into international charts that it began to boost Mumbai's slum tourism industry.

Movie criticism

The editing is did in a clever manner but the dialogues appeared to be tactless, forcibly dramatic and sometimes flithy.

The movie has won 8 of the 10 Oscar nominations it received. With the 10 nominations, it became the the Brit film with the largest number of nominations in last decade. Experts believe the movie has 2-7 odds of winning Oscar for the Best Motion Picture category. Rahman gets triple Oscar nominations. The movie was released a little after the international release and Director Danny said he was taking the success in India to be above the prestigious Oscar nomination honour.
