Mario Monti

Mario Monti is the Prime Minister of Italy.

On December 9, 2012 Monti announced that he would resign once the 2013 budget is passed. The announcement fueled speculations that he might run for the office against in the next elections.

He handed in his resignation on 21 December 2012 to president Giorgio Napolitano in Rome. This brings a close to the 13-month government he led as the nation gears up for the next elections.
