Animal testing

Animal testing is the use of non-human animals in experiments. Most animals are euthanized after being used in an experiment. The research is conducted inside universities, medical schools, pharmaceutical companies, farms, defense establishments, and commercial facilities that provide animal-testing services to industry.

Protest

Several organizations and high profile celebrities have appealed for animal testing to end in cosmetics. Among those who pay an active role in the campaign are Sienna Miller, Sir Paul McCartney, Kimberly Wyatt, Pamela Anderson and Leona Lewis.

In April 2012, a woman in UK volunteered to put herself to be tortured in public in a bid seeking the end of animal testing for cosmetics. The incident happened in a Lush store window on London's Regent Street. The woman Jacqueline Traide is 24 years of age.
