Ghulam Nabi Azad


Ghulam Nabi Azad is an Indian Congress Party politician and is the Minister of Health and Family Welfare in Manmohan Singh's cabinet. He is the Congress in-charge for state affairs for Andhra Pradesh.

Ghulam Nabi Azad was born on March 7, 1949 in Jammu & Kashmir. He is the current Minister of Health and Family Welfare since April 2009. Earlier, her served as the Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir. Ghulam Nabi Azad is also the Parliamentary Affairs Minister of India in Dr. Manmohan Singh's cabinet.

He spoke at the inaugural of the 6th World and first ever Organ Donation Day and Organ Donation Congress 2010 in New Delhi. Speaking on the occasion he asked people to donate organs to help the noble cause of saving precious lives.

Ghulam Nabi Azad inaugurated Arogya-2012 in Hyderabad on October 12, 2012. Addressing the gathering, he and Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy said that the government is encouraging alternative medicine including Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy.

2011

On 15 February 2011, It is reported that Ghulam Nabi Azad will inaugurate international conference cum workshop on 'Asia Pacific Community Mental Health' at the National Institute of Health and Family Welfare (NIHFW).
