Societa Sportiva Calcio Napoli is a football club based in Naples. The club is a professional football club which plays commonly in Serie A. The club was founded in 1926 and was refounded in 2004.

Serie A

Napoli has spent most of its history in Serie A, where it currently plays its 2012–13 season. Napoli has won Serie A twice, in 1986–87 and 1989–90. They have also won the Italian Cup four times and the Italian Super Cup, and on the European stage have won the UEFA Cup in 1988–89. Napoli is also the most successful club in Southern Italy and the fourth most supported football club in Italy.


Napoli was docked two points on December 18, 2012 in a match-fixing scandal over bets placed on a match with Sampdoria in 2010. Paolo Cannavaro, Gianluca Grava received six-month bans, while former goalkeeper Matteo Gianello was banned for three years and three months by the Italian Football Federation. After the docking of the points, Napoli is now fifth in Serie A points table.
