World Telugu Conference


The World Telugu Conference is held to promote Telugu language and to celebrate it around the world by the Telugu speaking people. The goal of World Telugu Conference is to protect and promote Telugu language and culture.

The first World Telugu Conference was held at the Lal Bahadur Stadium in Hyderabad in 1975. The conference was held from April 12 to 18 in 1975.

The second World Telugu Conference was held from April 14 to April 18, 1981. It was held in Kaulalumpur, the capital of Malaysia.

The third World Telugu Conference was held from December 10 to 13 in 1990. The conference was held in Mauritius.

Fourth World Telugu Conference

The fourth World Telugu Conference will be held in Tirupati on 27 to 29 in December 2012.

President Pranab Mukherjee will inaugurate the conference. The State administration has made all the necessary arrangements to celebrate the WTC in a grand manner. Special trains were announced to help people from across the state participate in the World Telugu Conference.

Day 1

President of India Pranab Mukherjee inaugurates the World Telugu Conference. He felicitated eminent Telugu personalities from various fields. Among those who were felicitated include: veteran actor Akkineni Nageswar Rao, former hockey player Mukesh Kumar, dancer Yamini Krishnamurthy, painter SV Rama Rao, film director Bapu, NRT Gujjala Ravinder.

President Pranab Mukherjee described Telugu as a classical language and said that the antiquity of Telugu language and civilization must be explored further.

Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy announces a separate ministry for promoting Telugu language.
