Bharat Bandh in Delhi

The nation-wide general strike called by the opposition parties and traders' association will affect Delhi and other NCR towns. However, public transportation is likely to function normally. Shops and markets, however, will remain closed. The bandh is being staged to protest the diesel price hike and FDI in multi-brand announced by the government few days ago.

The Bharatiya Janata Party announced that it will stage protests and demonstrations in Akshardham temple, Vikas Marg and Shahadra in east Delhi, Chandni Chowk, Rohini in northwest Delhi. Traffic will be disrupted in those areas.

The national secretary-general of the Confederation of All India Traders said that more than 500,000 traders of 1000 traders' associations in Delhi and 500,000 in NCR cities will actively participate in the bandh.

Transportation hit

Most of the auto-rickshaws in Delhi remained off the roads, creating a problem of transportation to the locals.
