About 2009 South Eastern China Earthquake

At least 18000 homes are down, at least 300 injured and one confirmed dead in an earthquake that measured 6 on Richter in the South-Western China region. An earthquake with 5 on Ritcher scale is reported yesterday. The quake is centered at Yao’an county of the Yunnan province. US Geological Survey recorded while confirming the quake has reported the intensity as 5.7 and 5 for the quakes dated 9th and 10th of July 2009 respectively.

Evacuation of homes is called in and local administration has quickly stepped in. Qin Guangrong, the Governor of Yunnan has called in for an immediate aid of 20 million yuan (approximately $2.9 million) for emergency relief use. Tents, quilts and other relief material are on way.
