Michael Oren

Michael Oren is the Israeli Ambassador to the United States.

He is an Israeli historian and author as well. Michael Oren has written books, articles, and essays on Middle Eastern history, and is the author of The New York Times best-selling Power, Faith and Fantasy and Six Days of War: June 1967 and the Making of the Modern Middle East, which won the Los Angeles Times History Book of the Year Award and the National Jewish Book Award.

Michael Oren has tweeted on November 17, 2012 claiming that the Israeli government is willing to talk with Hamas if the barrage of rockets from Gaza stops. The original tweet read, "Just appeared on the set of #CNN: #Israel willing to sit down with #Hamas -- if they just stop shooting at us." However, the tweet was deleted a short while later claiming that the tweet was erroneously sent by a staffer. "Correction: the earlier tweet about my CNN interview was sent erroneously by a staffer.", Oren tweeted later.
