V K Singh


About V K Singh

General V K Singh is a former and 26th Chief of the Indian Army. He joined Bharatiya Janata Party on March 1, 2014.

He waged a battle while in office with the Ministry of Defence (MoD) over his age.

Gen. V K Singh retired on May 31, 2012.

Since his retirement, VK Singh has been critical of the government and has supported protests in the country against corruption and other issues.

The Centre has withdrawn the Z-plus security cover of VK Singh on 26 December 2012. The Government has said that a security review last month has held that there was no threat perception against the former Army chief.

Joins BJP

Gen VK Singh joined Bharatiya Janata Party on March 1, 2014. He said that his decision to join BJP was only because he wants to see a nationalist party in power.

VK Singh is the Bharatiya Janata Party nominee to contest from Ghaziabad Lok Sabha seat.

VK Singh criticized UPA government for its attempt to speed up the process of appointing the next Army chief. He said that the new Cabinet formed after general elections should take the final call.
