About Sachin Tendulkar
Sachin Tendulkar is an Indian cricketer and a Member of Rajya Sabha in the Indian Parliament. He is considered the greatest cricketer ever to play the sport.
Termed as Master Blaster, Sachin Tendulkar is considered one of the finest cricketer in the Indian Cricketer history. He served as the captain of the Indian cricket team for a while. He has captained the national side and the Mumbai Indians team in the Indian Premier League. In March 2010, he became the Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
In December 2012, Sachin Tendulkar has announced his retirement from One Day International (ODI) form of Cricket.

In August 2010, he became the most-capped batsman in Test cricket history.
In June 2010, the President of the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), John Barclay supported Tendular with the idea of splitting the 50 over one-day matches into four innings of 20 overs each and backed the change, saying the innovative changes are worth trying.
Sachin Tendulkar has paid Rs. 2 crore in advance taxes for the period July-September in 2012. He paid Rs. 1.75 crore in the same period the previous year.

Record for highest number of runs in a single ODI
On February 24, 2010, Sachin scored first ever double century and also broke the world record for highest runs in ODI held by Pakistans Saeed Anwar for 194 runs, while playing in the second ODI here against South Africa.

Rajya Sabha
On April 26, 2012 Sachin Tendulkar was nominated to the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament. His nomination was approved by President Pratibha Patel. Sachin along with his wife Anjali Tendulkar met AICC president Sonia Gandhi on the 26th. His nomination to the Rajya Sabha received mixed reactions. While few of the commentators were of the view that Sachin doesn't have the experience to hold the position, while others viewed it as a way to honor Sachin Tendulkar.
Petition against nomination to Rajya Sabha
The Delhi High Court has dismissed a petition on 19 December 2012 challenging the nomination of Sachin Tendulkar to the Rajya Sabha. The petition was filed by Ram Gopal Singh Sisodia, a former Delhi legislator. The petition claimed that Sachin Tendulkar did not possess "special knowledge and practical experience", a criterion prescribed under Article 80 of the Constitution for such nomination. The central government informed the court that the nomination was according to a constitutional provision and said that the 'special knowledge and practical experience' required is not confined only to the four categories of literature, science, arts and social service.
