Mohammed Azharuddin (born: February 8, 1963 at Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India) is a former Indian Cricket Captain. He turned to a Politican and joined the Congress Party in 2009. He won the 2009 Indian Parliamentary Elections.

Cricket life

Mohammed Azharuddin played for the Indian cricket team and served as its captain. He was allegedly involved in a match-fixing scandal but was not proven guilty in court of law.

Political life

On January 24, 2009, Senior Congress leader Veerappa Moily said Azhar will be joining Congress soon. He is likely to contest from the Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency. As announced earlier, Azharuddin announced his joining into the Congress Party at a press conference.
