Michael Clarke is an Australian cricketer and is the captain of the Australian national team. He plays for Australia in the one day and test formats of the game. Michael Clarke has given up playing Twenty20 matches to concentrate on the other formats of the game.

He is one of the four current Australian cricketers to play with India on the India soil. He is often considered as the Australia's best spin option

Michael Clarke thanked former team mate Shane Warne for his support during his break-up from Bingle. Cricket Australia has flown a psychologist to Wellington where the team is preparing for the first Test against New Zealand.

Clarke said that the captaincy of the Test and ODI teams is his ultimate dream. However, former star players questioned Clarkes capacity to ascend to the Test captaincy and believe Ricky Ponting must lead Australia to England for Ashes revenge in 2013.

The Symonds episode

Clarke was blamed for taking the decision to put Andrew Symonds off the team but Cricket Australia's general manager for operations, Michael Brown, came up to his defense. Clarke accused Symonds for being 'disrespectful' to his teammates considering the team isn't having some senior players on an issue for which the later tendered a sorry. Many feared their relationship could prove irreparable should the Queenslander place the blame for his embarrassing expulsion solely at Clarke's feet.
