In August 09, he is appointed batting advisor to help team fire during Champions Trophy by the PCB. Miandad said he would not only impart batting tips to the team, but would also advise players on other aspects of the game as part of an overall strategy. He asked the non-performing senior players of the team to take rest from international cricket.
