Chrysler LLC is an American car manufacturer.

Chrysler, in December 08, announced it will be closing its vehicle plants in America for a period of one month to match demand and conserve cash. On January 2, 2009, the US Treasury Department is reported to have supplied a $4 billion loan that was necessary to keep it operating. During early 2009, Chrysler LLC said it is cutting vehicle model lines and getting rid of jobs. The company reported having lost $8 billion in 2008 and asked the Government for $5 billion more to come out its crisis. Its Indiana Transmission Plant II (ITP II), located in Kokomo, Ind., has been awarded the 2008-2009 Shingo Silver Medallion.

In May 09, the company announced it will be cutting franchise agreements with about 800 dealers.

Bankruptcy

Chrysler filed for bankruptcy protection April 30. On May 31, 2009, a bankruptcy judge, Judge Arthur Gonzalez of U.S. Bankruptcy Court, New York approved the sale of most of Chrysler's assets to a group led by Italian automaker Fiat making the step ahead in the Chrysler's Chapter 11 process. The ruling could help Chrysler meet President Obama's goal of completing the bankruptcy procedure within 60 days. Chrysler has franchiese agreements with 789 dealerships who along with their employees will have tough times ahead.
