Ram Mynampati is named as the interim CEO of Satyam Computer Services in January 2009 when B Ramalinga Raju resigned admitting financial wrong-doing.

On January 8, 2009, Ram Mynampati spoke at a press conferance at Satyam Headquarters and said that he is not aware of the financial mismangement at Satyam and that having taken the role of Interim CEO, he and his leadership team are assessing the verasity of the statement made by Raju and that they are reaching out to their stakeholders and working for business continuity.

On January 9, 2009, the Indian Government stepped in and said that the Directors should be stopped from performing as Directors and that the Government will nominate a board. This makes Ram Mynampati cease to perform as a Director of the company. Reacting to the Government announcement, Ram Mynampati welcome members from the CII to be in the board.

Few days later the press reported that trying to contacting Ram Mynampati became difficult and that he moved out of India for the US. Satyam came out quickly and said that the reports are purely speculative and that Ram is in the US meeting Satyam's clients and giving assurance about the company.
