Peter Thiel

Peter Thiel is an American entrepreneur and a venture capitalist. He co-founded Paypal with Max Levchin.

Thiel currently serves as president of Clarium Capital, a global macro hedge fund with under $700 million in assets under management; a managing partner in The Founders Fund, a $275 million venture capital fund that he launched with Ken Howery and Luke Nosek in 2005; and co-founder and investment committee chair of Mithril Capital Management.

Peter Thiel was the first outside investor in Facebook, with a 10.2% stake acquired in 2004 for $500,000. He is also on the Facebook company's board of directors. Thiel cashed in most of his Facebook shares according to official filings in August 2012.
