The airstrip has a control tower, a separate underground armament depot, underground bunkers, staff quarters and a pond for firefighting operations.

It is located in Vizianagaram district at the mandal headquarter of Badangi, 42 km from Vizianagaram and 90 km from the Eastern Naval Command in Visakhapatnam. It is located on the connecting road between Ramabhadrapuram NH-43 and Chilakapalem NH-5.

Attempts of Revival

In December 2012, Navy's representatives have met Parvathipuram Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) J Venkata Rao and held discussions of land availability at the old strip and the encrochments of the land by farmers. The Navy is planning to develop the airstrip as a training base for pilots and other future requirements.
