Sharmila Tagore

Sharmila Tagore is an Indian film actress. She is a winner of Padma Bhushan award.

Sharmila Tagore led the Indian Film Censor Board from October 2004 till March 2011. In December 2005 she was chosen as an UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. In 2013, she was awarded Padma Bhushan by the Government of India.


Sharmila Tagore believes in strong female-oriented parts in Movies. She feels that the television medium in India needs to step out of its stereotypical portrayal of women where they are shown mainly preoccupied with household, husband, family and kitchen.
