Kevin Spacey

Kevin Spacey is an American actor and a two-time winner of the prestigious Academy Award.

Professional Career

Kevin Spacey began his professional career as an actor in the 1980s. He first appeared in theatre and later went on to do supporting roles in films and television.

Spacey gained critical acclaim for his performance in 'The Usual Suspects' (1995) which won him an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. He won another Academy Award for his performance in 'American Beauty' (1999) in the Best Actor category.

Kevin Spacey said he would accept or reject a role based on the script. He said his parents introduced him to reading and he read a great number of quality books.

Film vs Theatre

Kevin Spacey believes that there is no difference in acting in films and acting in theatre. Speaking at 15th Videocon D2H IIFA weekend in Tampa Bay, Kevin Spacey said that acting is acting and either one is good or bad. He said that acting in theatre is like being an athelete. Speaking about the differences between theatre and film, he said a film is director's medium, while theatre is actor's medium. While one can become better in acting at theatre in two weeks, an actor has to wait till the film is finished and released to assess his/her performance.

Bollywood actress Vidya Balan and Priyanka Chopra were also present at the IIFA weekend and Priyanka Chopra took part in the session asking Spacey a few questions. Film critic Masad played the role of moderator.
