William Edward Crystal, popularly called Billy Crystal is an an American actor, writer, producer, comedian and film director. He is known for playing Jodie Dallas on 'Soap' and for hosting the Academy Awards eight times. He has appeared in many box office successes including When Harry Met Sally... and City Slickers.

Billy Crystal will host the 84th Academy Awards after the original host Eddie Murphy stepped down.
