'Social Network' Producers hand picked by EL James to produce movie adaption of 'Fifty Shades of Grey'

The team that produced the hit film 'The Social Network' will take up the next task of producing the film adaption of the best-selling novel 'Fifty Shades of Grey'.

A joint statement was released by Universal Pictures and Focus Features stating that Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti will join together again for the adaption of the best-selling novel. 'Fifty Shades of Grey' is a 2011 erotic novel by British author EL James. The trilogy has already sold around 31 million copies worldwide and the book rights were sold in 41 countries. It has a large female following.

Aside from producing 'The Social Network', De Luca and Brunetti also produced the Oscar nominated movie 'Moneyball'. They were hand chosen by author EL James, even as many producers have approached her showing keen interest in the project.The novel is about a 21-year-old English-literature student Anastasia Steele, who has an S&M relationship with wealthy entrepreneur Christian Grey. Universal Pictures Co-Chairman Donna Langley said that the novel is a complex love story and it requires delicate handling, which De Luca and Dana are more than capable of.

The cast has not been chosen yet, though the names of Ian Somerhalder, Matt Bomer, Alexander Skarsgard, Chris Hemsworth, and Chris Pine have made rounds to play the character of Grey.
