Scarlett Johansson keen to wear director's hat

April 1, 2012 - Washington

Scarlett Johansson revealed that she has been working on her own feature film for years and wants to direct it some day.

The 'Avengers Assemble' actress added that she was looking to challenge herself.

"I would like to direct a feature. I've been developing it for years. It's good. I just want to work on stuff that's challenging to me, physically, emotionally. I don't want to do anything that doesn't scare me a little bit," Contactmusic quoted her as telling Empire Magazine.

Johansson also said that she would like to portray silent film star Norma Desmond in a remake of the 1950 movie 'Sunset Boulevard'.

"As I get older I sort of see that I'm able to kind of move away from characters that are transitional. I'm now looking at characters - women - that are established and are where they are because of where they came from and have a background," she said.

"Actors are always asked to do things that are absolutely ludicrous, whether you're rappelling down the side of a building or crawling through the woods or fulfilling yourself emotionally.

"I want to play Norma Desmond in 'Sunset Boulevard' someday. But I need a couple more years," she added.
