Katy Perry wins most prizes at People's Choice Awards despite absence

Katy Perry claimed a lot of trophies at the People's Choice Awards in Los Angeles, despite her absence at the prize ceremony.

The 27-year-old singer marriage break-up prevented her from attending the show.

The 'I Kissed a Girl' hitmaker pulled out of the event earlier this week by posting a tweet but it was still very much her night as she picked up five awards, including one for her guest spot on TV comedy 'How I Met Your Mother'.

Perry also claimed trophies for Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Song of the Year (E.T.), Favorite Music Video (Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)) and Favorite Tour Headliner.

More than 230 million votes were cast for the 43 categories, Contactmusic reported.

Favorite Country Artist - Taylor Swift

Favorite TV Comedy Actress - Lea Michele (Glee)

Favorite TV Comedy Actor - Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother)

Favorite Network TV Comedy - How I Met Your Mother

Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show - Supernatural

Favorite TV Crime Drama - Castle

Favorite Celeb Reality Star - Kim Kardashian.
