Daniel Radcliffe suppressed 'natural energy' for new role

January 26, 2012 - Washington

Daniel Radcliffe has revealed that he had to subdue his own ''natural energy" to play Arthur Kipps in the new supernatural thriller movie 'The Woman in Black'.

At the world premiere of the new movie at the Royal Festival Hall in London on Tuesday night, the 'Harry Potter' actor, famous for his excitable personality, said that he found playing the lead character difficult, as he had to subdue himself constantly.

"It's all about the restraint and the withheld quality. You know, I'm quite a hyperactive, excitable kind of person so it was a matter of really taking away my own natural energy and sort of subduing that to give some sense of pathos and depth," Contactmusic quoted him as telling BANG Showbiz.

The 22-year-old's co-stars Shaun Dooley, Ciaran Hinds and Liz White were also on the red carpet, as well as director James Watkins and screenwriter Jane Goldman.
