New Smurf film gives 'white' Spanish village blue makeover

June 20, 2011 - London

The historic white buildings of Malaga in Spain have been painted in blue as a part of a project to transform the Andalusia town into a Smurf village to prepare for the release of the 'The Smurfs 3D'.

The film, to be released next month by Sony, features the animated characters in blue hue, attempting to return to their village following their landing in New York's Central Park, reports the Daily Mail.

It took a dozen painters 1,000 gallons of paint to transform Juzcar of Malaga into a village, which should make any Smurf feel perfectly at home.

However, Sony has promised that it will restore the town's buildings to their default colour after the premier party.
