Lynda Carter was 'disappointed' over axing of new Wonder Woman pilot

June 8, 2011 - London

Original 'Wonder Woman' Lynda Carter has admitted she was "disappointed" when a reboot of her classic TV show was shelved, as she was making plans for a guest appearance.

U.S. TV bosses decided not to pick up the pilot of the highly-anticipated revamp, which saw Adrianne Palicki cast as the costumed heroine played by Carter on the small screen in the 1970s.

The veteran star, however, hopes executives will reverse their decision.

"I was really interested and I was really happy that they were going to redo it, because the (Wonder Woman) story is a great story and I think it needs to be retold. It needs to go to another generation of people," The Daily Express quoted her as telling

"I was disappointed that it didn't work out, and I don't have a clue as to why it didn't work out (or) what the problems were. But you never know, things can still get resurrected or retooled, so I haven't given up (hope)."

Carter reveals she was looking forward to making a cameo in the series adding, "I was on the road at the time of shooting (the pilot). I couldn't get there. The schedules didn't line up. But I fully expected it to be picked up, and then mostly likely I would have done something."
