James Bond poster fetches almost £80K at auction!

June 16, 2011 - London

The original poster for James Bond movie 'Diamonds Are Forever' has sold at a London auction for a staggering 79,250 pounds.

The hand-painted piece by Robert McGinnis was a prototype for the film imagery, but another design was eventually chosen to market the Sean Connery blockbuster, released in 1971.

It sold for 79,250 pounds at Christie's Wednesday afternoon, more than three times the estimated price of up to 24,000 pounds, reports the Scotsman.

The poster featured the 007 actor and two Bond girls, surrounded by action scenes - strikingly similar to the design, which was adopted.
