DiCaprio says gay relationship obvious between Edgar and Tolson

November 9, 2011 - London

Leonardo DiCaprio has hit back at critics who have slammed the gay storyline of his new film J. EDGAR, insisting that its obvious that the former FBI boss was more than just friends with his assistant Clyde Tolson.

DiCaprio, who plays the role of Hoover in the film directed by Clint Eastwood, claims they had to allude to the two colleagues' gay relations.

"You talk to the FBI, they'll tell you, 'Absolutely not. These men were of service to their country'," The Daily Express quoted the actor as telling the Los Angeles Times.

"And you talk to another crew of people and they say, 'Absolutely, without question. These men vacationed together.

"They lived together. Hoover left Mr. Tolson everything he had when he passed away.' You know, come on!"

"These two men spent almost every minute together for decades," he added.
