Ashley Cole teams up with will.i.am to help Cheryl get over 'X Factor' snub

June 11, 2011 - London

Professional footballer Ashley Cole is in talks with his ex-wife Cheryl's manager rapper will.i.am to help her get over the US 'X Factor' firing.

Cole, 30, is determined to help gutted Cheryl, 27, bounce back, and has jetted out to LA on a lads' holiday after speaking to The Black Eyed Peas' will.i.am, 36, about the best way to help.

"Ashley is pushing back into Cheryl's life and she likes it. The fact she's got her man back involved and caring is picking her up and giving her strength and confidence," the Daily Star quoted an insider as saying.

"Ashley has been advising Cheryl on how to handle her knock," the insider said.

The Chelsea star blames music mogul Simon Cowell, 51, for the US X Factor fiasco and is determined not to let her forgive her former pal.

"Ashley is livid with Simon and is turning Cheryl against him and winding her up," the source said.

"He's furious Simon turned on her when she invested so much in going to the States, and is upset that she has been humiliated across the world.

"Ash has told her to turn away from Simon and stand on her own two feet without turning to him as mentor and adviser," the source added.

A spokesman for Cheryl denied she had spoken to Cole about her career crisis.
