Aniston to help dad by acting in œ400-a-day TV soap

August 14, 2011 - London

Jennifer Aniston may act in a low-budget daytime soap 'Day of Our Lives' paying less than 400 pounds a day in an effort to save her father's job.

"She wants to do it and she's happy to take the bare minimum Screen Actors' Guild day rate," The Daily Express quoted a source close to Aniston as saying.

The 42-year-old actress will not even be the star of the play and is said to play the role of a "frazzled" wedding planner who helps her father's character marry Maggie Norton played by Suzanne Rogers.

John Aniston has been playing the role of a Greek mobster on the show for 24 years - 1,199 episodes, which may be axed by NBC bosses at the end of its current series due to disastrous ratings.

"We're hoping Jen will join us in November, when all the networks are at their most competitive," a source said.

"She has said she wants to help but her schedule is so tight we may have to cram a lot of shooting into just a few days," the source added.

Despite many efforts on the part of all the actors and petitions by viewers, the producers believe only Aniston can save the show by boosting its rating.
