Angelina Jolie takes children to crafting store despite London riots

August 10, 2011 - New York

'Salt' actress Angelina Jolie did not let the riots in London stop her from taking all six of her kids to a local pottery shop to paint and decorate clay objects.

The British capital has been teeming since Thursday, when police shot a 29-year-old suspected drug dealer and an initially peaceful memorial turned violent.

There have been hundreds of arrests made and a number of buildings around London and other British cities have been set on fire, prompting Prime Minister David Cameron to return from vacation to deal with the melee.

Luckily Jolie's place, located in the southwest London neighbourhood of Richmond, kept her family far enough from the danger that they could leave the house.

"Angie was a little nervous, but felt safe," the New York Daily News quoted a source as telling Us magazine.

A member of the actress' security team said that while the actress was worried about safety, she felt safe bringing her family outside as a clearer picture of the uprising has emerged.

"Of course, we are not going anywhere near central London," the source added.
