2 charged over plot to attack and rob singer Joss Stone

June 16, 2011 - London

British police have charged two men over an alleged plot to attack and rob singer Joss Stone.

Police had swooped after a neighbour alerted them about the duo and caught them near Stone's home in a car allegedly stuffed with swords, rope, a body bag and forensic-style overalls.

Cops said that the singer might have been targeted because of her 9 million pounds fortune.

A police spokesman has named the suspects as Junior Bradshaw, 30, and Kevin Liverpool, 33, both from Manchester.

"Both have been charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm," the Sun quoted the spokesman as saying.

The Grammy Award-winner, has however, reassured fans that she was OK.

"I'd like to thank everyone for their concern but I'm absolutely fine and getting on with life as normal while the police continue with their enquiries," the 24-year-old singer said in a statement.

"It's come as a bit of a shock to her but she's determined it won't affect her plans. She's being kept informed by the police," an aide added.
